SHAFAQNA Exclusive: Approval given to build the first Mosque in Iceland

Image[B]SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)[/B] – Reykjavik the capital of Iceland is one of cities in the world where a Mosque has never been built in it. According to Al-Sakina in the year 2000 the Muslim minority submitted a proposal to the Reykjavik council for building a Mosque which at the time was rejected. But after more than a decade the Muslims succeeded to obtain approval to build a Mosque. At least 700 Muslims live in Reykjavik and their future Mosque will be about 800 meters and will cost 2.4 million Euros. The Head of Muslims Association of Iceland expressed his happiness on the approval for building the first Mosque and said the building of the Mosque will start next spring. The new Mosque will have a 9 meter minaret.
